Pulse of Hope Foundation is looking for a dedicated, community-connected individual to join our Board of Directors and help lead the development of our Indigenous Health Initiative.About Pulse of HopePulse of Hope is a Saskatchewan-based nonprofit foundation with a clear and urgent mission: to improve the compassion, accessibility, equity, and quality of healthcare for people across the province. We do this by advancing community advocacy, education, and awareness; facilitating access to non-medical equipment; and supporting or co-creating community-based health initiatives. Our work places particular emphasis on individuals living with chronic health conditions, and our primary focus communities are rural residents, Indigenous Peoples, and newcomers to Saskatchewan.The RoleAs Board Member for our Indigenous Health Initiative, you will play a central role in guiding the development, direction, and community relationships that shape this initiative. You will work closely with our team to build respectful, reciprocal partnerships with Indigenous organizations and communities across Saskatchewan, help ensure our programs are grounded in cultural safety and community priorities, and bring your knowledge and perspective to strategic decisions at the board level.This is more than a volunteer role. Consider volunteering and take an active role on one of Meewasin’s Board Advisory Committees! We are seeking three new members to join the Development Review Committee. Meewasin’s Board of Directors makes appointments, and vacancies are filled as necessary. Potential candidates must have the necessary qualifications and experience to fulfil the purpose of the committee. Meewasin strives to have diverse representation on its advisory committees to ensure our entire community is represented. If you are part of an under-represented community, we strongly encourage you to apply.The Development Review Committee assists the Meewasin Board of Directors as follows: a) review and advise the Board on development applications of proposed improvements; b) review and advise the Board on additions to the Meewasin Development Plan; and c) review and advise the Board on the development review process. The committee typically meets every other month. Meetings are held virtually.The Development Review Committee is currently seeking three (3) members that fit the following requirements: • One member, must be a professional planner; • Two members, as defined in The Engineering and Geoscience Professions Act, at least one of whom is a geotechnical engineer or a professional geoscientist. At times, ‘all committee’ meetings are called or requests are made for input for specific projects from the project’s Technical Advisory Committee. Committee members are appointed for a two-year term, and shall be eligible for re-appointment to a maximum of two consecutive terms (four years). Appointees retired from a committee may serve on another committee or be eligible for re-appointment following a minimum one-year absence. The Health Research Data Platform – Saskatchewan (HRDP-SK) is looking for people to join its Public Advisory Council (PAC).If you care about how health data is used and want to help shape how it informs research and decision-making in Saskatchewan, this could be a great fit.What will PAC members do?As a member of the Public Advisory Council, you will bring your experiences, perspectives, and ideas to conversations about how health data is used. Want to make a difference in helping children build their reading skills? Become a Spark volunteer!As a Foundations Learning volunteer, you provide one-to-one support to strengthen children’s reading strategies through our reading program called Spark. Spark Reading Guides attend a 3.5-hour training on reading methods and strategies, and will be provided with all resources needed throughout the program. Volunteers are matched with 2 elementary school students and work one-on-one with each student for 30 minutes, twice per week (Monday-Friday), over 8 weeks. Spark runs four terms a year: fall, winter, spring, and summer. Seeking passionate female volunteers for a one day inspiring event to help uplift and empower the next generation of confident young women! Are you passionate about female empowerment and have a desire to help build the next generation of confident young women? The BeaYOUtiful Foundation, a registered Canadian Charity, is bringing the Inspired By Her Conference to Saskatoon for the very first time! This conference is dedicated to inspiring young girls to feel confident in themselves as well as help them to define their self-worth. The day will consist of three rotating workshops focused on building confidence through movement, conversation and mentorship.YOUR ROLE: Be a mentor for a day! Our volunteers will be paired up with 2-3 young girls from the community and be their "Soul Sister” during the event. Volunteers work with adult learners one-on-one and in small groups to enhance literacy skills. All training is provided to volunteers, as well as ongoing support from our Adult Literacy Coordinator throughout the program. Work with adult participants to identify current skills, and work together to enhance those skills by supporting them with tools, resources, and encouragement. Coaches meet one-on-one with their learner either in-person at a public library or over Zoom. The weekly schedule is determined by what is convenient for the learner and coach - we find a time that fits your schedule!Coaches are provided with comprehensive literacy training and are given templates and materials that you can use when planning sessions with their learners. Once your training is complete, you will be matched with a learner according to their needs and your areas of expertise and availability. We then introduce you to your learner and start you off with a detailed Learning Plan that has been prepared for the learner and provide you with some suggestions and resources to get started. You will then plan weekly sessions based on the Learning Plan, strategies shared in training, and materials relevant to the learners’ interests and skill levels. Foundations’ staff is also here to support you in all aspects of your coaching role.Our adult learners are as diverse as their individual goals, so it’s difficult to describe a ‘typical learner’. Our program is learner-centred and strength-based, so there is no set curriculum - what you work on is based on your learner’s goals. Learners join our program for a variety of reasons such as improving their literacy skills in reading and writing, passing the written portion of a Driver’s exam, or earning their GED. We always welcome feedback or questions from our volunteers and learners. Foundations’ Coordinator will be in regular contact with you to offer support and suggestions and gather feedback.
