Indigenous Board Member

Are you passionate about health equity and driven to make a real difference in your community? Pulse of Hope Foundation is looking for a dedicated, community-connected individual to join our Board of Directors and help lead the development of our Indigenous Health Initiative.

About Pulse of Hope

Pulse of Hope is a Saskatchewan-based nonprofit foundation with a clear and urgent mission: to improve the compassion, accessibility, equity, and quality of healthcare for people across the province. We do this by advancing community advocacy, education, and awareness; facilitating access to non-medical equipment; and supporting or co-creating community-based health initiatives. Our work places particular emphasis on individuals living with chronic health conditions, and our primary focus communities are rural residents, Indigenous Peoples, and newcomers to Saskatchewan.

The Role

As Board Member for our Indigenous Health Initiative, you will play a central role in guiding the development, direction, and community relationships that shape this initiative. You will work closely with our team to build respectful, reciprocal partnerships with Indigenous organizations and communities across Saskatchewan, help ensure our programs are grounded in cultural safety and community priorities, and bring your knowledge and perspective to strategic decisions at the board level.

This is more than a volunteer role. It is an opportunity to help build healthcare programming that is responsive to Indigenous communities' needs, shaped with them rather than for them.

Who We Are Looking For

We are especially seeking candidates who bring:

• Lived experience within Indigenous communities in Saskatchewan
• A genuine passion for health equity and Indigenous-led approaches to community health
• Understanding of (or willingness to learn) the historical and ongoing barriers Indigenous Peoples face in accessing healthcare
• Willingness to engage meaningfully with governance, organizational strategy, and community partnership-building
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate respectfully across diverse perspectives
• Reliability and follow-through; honoring commitments and actively participating in meetings and initiatives

No previous board or governance experience is required. What matters most is your commitment to the mission and your connection to the communities this initiative serves.
