Client service volunteers provide support to the client and their families in many ways and are part of the total team effort that is invaluable in hospice care. An optimum environment for a person with a terminal ill ness can only be achieved if there is time to listen, to understand, and to care. This is an integral part of what a volunteer does.The role of the volunteer is to be of assistance to anyone who may need it... the client, the family, or other members of the team. They are there to provide emotional support, practical help, and companionship. They have the time tolisten, to understand, and to care for the client and others. The volunteer does not see the client every day, so they bring a certain freshness and vitality which can be a great support to the care providers who may be continuously close to their loved one who is dying.Activity examples: Going for walks, listening to music, errand running, playing crib, providing rides to appointments and much more. Time commitment: 4 hours / week. We are in particular need of volunteers who are available during the weekdays.

Results is an advocacy nonprofit that believes in mobilizing everyday people (our volunteers) to generate the political will to end extreme poverty in low-and middle-income countries. We focus our work on global health, access to quality education and economic opportunities. We direct our energy and efforts at government decision makers like party leaders, Members of Parliament and senators because they have the power to improve policies and make the monetary investments needed to end extreme poverty. We also raise awareness by writing letters to the editor (LTEs) and op-eds, using social media, fundraising and more. Oftentimes the first step is putting these issues on the radar — and keeping the pressure on. The isolation can be particularly challenging. Often, women report feeling disconnected from society, invisible and alone. A LOCAL CHAPTER is a branch of The Shoebox Project led entirely by volunteers in communities across Canada.On behalf of, and supported by a trusted registered charity, Local Chapters collect gifts and essentials from members of the community and distribute them through shelters and agencies to local women and gender-diverse individuals experiencing or at-risk-of homelessness. A LOCAL CHAPTER COORDINATOR determines a Chapter's goals based on the needs of local shelters and community agencies. They lead and execute seasonal gift drives by recruiting local volunteers to help. Chapters educate and build awareness of The Shoebox Project and our mission. They encourage the community to support their Chapter through Shoebox gifts, monetary donations, volunteering and offering kind messages of support to the women they serve.Our annual giving campaign is during the holidays and a majority of Chapter activity is from September(planning), through December (gift delivery).
