Client service volunteers provide support to the client and their families in many ways and are part of the total team effort that is invaluable in hospice care. An optimum environment for a person with a terminal ill ness can only be achieved if there is time to listen, to understand, and to care. This is an integral part of what a volunteer does. The role of the volunteer is to be of assistance to anyone who may need it... the client, the family, or other members of the team. They are there to provide emotional support, practical help, and companionship. They have the time tolisten, to understand, and to care for the client and others. The volunteer does not see the client every day, so they bring a certain freshness and vitality which can be a great support to the care providers who may be continuously close to their loved one who is dying.Activity examples: Going for walks, listening to music, errand running, playing crib, providing rides to appointments and much more. Time commitment: 4 hours / week. We are in particular need of volunteers who are available during the weekdays.
