The Health Research Data Platform – Saskatchewan (HRDP-SK) is looking for people to join its Public Advisory Council (PAC).If you care about how health data is used and want to help shape how it informs research and decision-making in Saskatchewan, this could be a great fit.What will PAC members do?As a member of the Public Advisory Council, you will bring your experiences, perspectives, and ideas to conversations about how health data is used. You will help HRDP-SK:· Improve how to communicate about health data to the public· Protect privacy and security · Build public trust and engagement· Ensure the perspectives of Saskatchewan communities are reflected in health data researchWho are we looking for?We are looking for people from across Saskatchewan who can bring different experiences and perspectives to the table.Helpful experience could include:· Being part of a group or committee· Contributing to your community and caring about its well-being· Personal experience with Saskatchewan’s health system as a patient, family member, or caregiver· Involvement in provincial initiatives or advisory groupsNo previous council or committee experience is required. Pulse of Hope Foundation is looking for a dedicated, community-connected individual to join our Board of Directors and help lead the development of our Indigenous Health Initiative.About Pulse of HopePulse of Hope is a Saskatchewan-based nonprofit foundation with a clear and urgent mission: to improve the compassion, accessibility, equity, and quality of healthcare for people across the province. We do this by advancing community advocacy, education, and awareness; facilitating access to non-medical equipment; and supporting or co-creating community-based health initiatives. Our work places particular emphasis on individuals living with chronic health conditions, and our primary focus communities are rural residents, Indigenous Peoples, and newcomers to Saskatchewan.The RoleAs Board Member for our Indigenous Health Initiative, you will play a central role in guiding the development, direction, and community relationships that shape this initiative. Volunteer with family literacy programs and events that encourage parents and children to learn together. The various components of this program support literacy development for the entire family and encourages parents and children to learn together. Volunteers work collaboratively with the Family Literacy Coordinator to help support the relationship between caregivers and children by modeling that literacy is not limited to reading and writing. Client service volunteers provide support to the client and their families in many ways and are part of the total team effort that is invaluable in hospice care. An optimum environment for a person with a terminal ill ness can only be achieved if there is time to listen, to understand, and to care. This is an integral part of what a volunteer does.The role of the volunteer is to be of assistance to anyone who may need it... the client, the family, or other members of the team. They are there to provide emotional support, practical help, and companionship. They have the time tolisten, to understand, and to care for the client and others. The volunteer does not see the client every day, so they bring a certain freshness and vitality which can be a great support to the care providers who may be continuously close to their loved one who is dying.Activity examples: Going for walks, listening to music, errand running, playing crib, providing rides to appointments and much more. Time commitment: 4 hours / week. We are in particular need of volunteers who are available during the weekdays.

Want to make a difference in helping children build their reading skills? Become a Spark volunteer!As a Foundations Learning volunteer, you provide one-to-one support to strengthen children’s reading strategies through our reading program called Spark. Spark Reading Guides attend a 3.5-hour training on reading methods and strategies, and will be provided with all resources needed throughout the program. Volunteers are matched with 2 elementary school students and work one-on-one with each student for 30 minutes, twice per week (Monday-Friday), over 8 weeks. Spark runs four terms a year: fall, winter, spring, and summer. Volunteers work with adult learners one-on-one and in small groups to enhance literacy skills. All training is provided to volunteers, as well as ongoing support from our Adult Literacy Coordinator throughout the program. Work with adult participants to identify current skills, and work together to enhance those skills by supporting them with tools, resources, and encouragement. Coaches meet one-on-one with their learner either in-person at a public library or over Zoom. The weekly schedule is determined by what is convenient for the learner and coach - we find a time that fits your schedule!Coaches are provided with comprehensive literacy training and are given templates and materials that you can use when planning sessions with their learners. Once your training is complete, you will be matched with a learner according to their needs and your areas of expertise and availability. We then introduce you to your learner and start you off with a detailed Learning Plan that has been prepared for the learner and provide you with some suggestions and resources to get started. You will then plan weekly sessions based on the Learning Plan, strategies shared in training, and materials relevant to the learners’ interests and skill levels. Foundations’ staff is also here to support you in all aspects of your coaching role.Our adult learners are as diverse as their individual goals, so it’s difficult to describe a ‘typical learner’. Our program is learner-centred and strength-based, so there is no set curriculum - what you work on is based on your learner’s goals. Learners join our program for a variety of reasons such as improving their literacy skills in reading and writing, passing the written portion of a Driver’s exam, or earning their GED. We always welcome feedback or questions from our volunteers and learners. Foundations’ Coordinator will be in regular contact with you to offer support and suggestions and gather feedback.
